Bartlesville Public Library’s free monthly adult craft classes allow crafters to try different media and techniques. Previous classes have included the art of modern hand lettering, sewing tote bags, and making bath bombs, wreaths and jewelry. Both beginners and experienced crafters are welcome to come and learn in a relaxed and fun environment.
You don’t need a sewing machine to create these quilts. A barn quilt is a piece of wood painted to look like a single quilt block. The majority of barn quilts are comprised of simple geometric shapes painted in solid colors making them easier to see from afar when placed on the side of a barn. Quilt patterns on barns dates back to colonial America when colonists painted small patterns on the ends of their barns as a way to celebrate their heritage. The designs were also believed to protect the farm and bring good fortune. Learn the basics and create a 12″ x 12″ barn quilt, and leave with patterns and the knowledge to create more in a variety of sizes. Materials provided.
This class is offered twice, from 2 pm – 4 pm, and repeated again at 6 pm – 8 pm and will take place in Meeting Room C.
