The Oklahoma Virtual Library Surpasses1 Million Ebook and Audiobook Checkouts in 2020!
The Oklahoma Virtual Library announced today that it reached a record-breaking 1,144,191 million digital book checkouts in 2020! This accomplishment illustrates the continued growth and importance of lending digital materials through libraries in ebook and audiobook formats, especially in a year with building closures due to the global pandemic. The Oklahoma Virtual Library, consisting of over 92 libraries in Oklahoma, is one of 102 public library systems worldwide that surpassed 1 million checkouts!
Oklahoma Virtual member libraries have been providing readers 24/7 access to ebooks and audiobooks for several years through OverDrive and its award-winning Libby reading app. Reader interest and usage has grown every year!
The highest-circulating title Oklahoma Virtual readers borrowed through OverDrive in 2020 was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, audiobook version, by J.K. Rowling.
