The Bartlesville Public Library will offer a free “Introduction to Sewing” workshop on Wednesday, Dec. 12 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Library’s meeting room C. The class will be taught by BJ Stevenson. Stevenson is the owner of the store On the Rebound on 3850 E. Frank Phillips Blvd. She services sewing machines, does custom upholstery and teaches sewing and upholstery classes. Stevenson has sewn for many years, and has a passion for sewing and teaching others how to sew.
Stevenson will be providing all the materials for the workshop, so participants only need to bring their working sewing machine. She will present five possible sewing projects, and participants will be able to pick one of these projects to make and complete in the workshop to take home. Projects to choose from include a variety of simple purses, cell phone carriers, book and travel bags, trivets and sewing organizers. These projects would make a nice handmade Christmas present.
The Library has a Things collection from which patrons can borrow, and this collection includes four Brother sewing machines. Two of the machines have basic features, and two offer more advanced settings. The Library also has a number of sewing books to check out that cover a wide array of projects for any skill level.
Class size is limited so registration is required. For more information or to register, contact the Reference desk at 918-338-4169.
